Boral Driveway & Pavers: The Woodland Hills Owner’s Guide

Boral driveway and paver replacement in Woodland Hills typically runs $7,000 to $18,000 installed for a standard residential driveway, and we stock Boral-compatible pavers and edge restraints on our trucks for most repairs. If you’re looking at a cracked paver, a sunken section, or failing edge restraint, we can usually match the product line, quote the repair, and schedule the work without waiting weeks on materials. Most owners discover the problem the way you probably did: a paver that shifted after rain, a low spot where water pools, or an edge course that started separating from the driveway border.

We’re an independent service provider in Woodland Hills, not a Boral dealer or affiliate, but we’ve installed and repaired enough Boral pavers across the west San Fernando Valley to know exactly what fails and what it takes to fix it right the first time.

Which Boral Models This Applies To

Boral’s concrete paver lines that show up most often on Woodland Hills driveways include the StoneScape, Estate Stone, and PaveStone series. StoneScape pavers are modular units, usually 6×6, 6×9, and 12×12 inches, with a tumbled edge that hides chips. Estate Stone runs larger format, often 16×16 with a smooth top, and shows up on a lot of mid-2000s custom homes around Walnut Acres and Vista de Oro. PaveStone is the workhorse line, often 4×8 in a herringbone or running bond pattern.

The practical gotcha: Boral changed some of their color mixing and surface texturing around 2015. A paver pulled from an old Boral pallet will not always match a homeowner’s driveway that was installed in 2008, even if both are called “Charcoal” or “Sierra Blend.” We handle this by pulling measurements and color samples from your existing pavers and matching against current Boral-compatible production, not just the product name. If you’re replacing a section rather than the whole driveway, we match in person before we quote the job.

When OEM Boral pavers are backordered or discontinued, we’ll spec a quality aftermarket equivalent from Belgard, Unilock, or Techo-Bloc, all of which we work with as specification-grade partners. We’ll tell you plainly when aftermarket is the right call and why, and the price difference is always in the written quote before work starts.

Signs Your Boral Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Pooling water after light rain. This almost always points to a base or bedding sand failure underneath the pavers, not the pavers themselves. In Woodland Hills, our clay-heavy soil expands and contracts through wet winters and dry summers, which slowly compacts the base and creates low spots.
  • Edge pavers separating from the border or curb. The plastic or concrete edge restraint has shifted or cracked. Water gets in, washes out bedding sand, and the paver starts to walk outward. You’ll see it first at the driveway apron where it meets the street.
  • One or two pavers cracked while surrounding pavers look fine. Usually a point-load issue: a heavy vehicle parked in the same spot, a tree root pushing up from underneath, or a paver with a manufacturing stress fracture. Boral pavers are dense and durable; single-paver cracks in an otherwise stable driveway are almost never a sign the whole surface is failing.
  • Sand washing out between joints after hosing down the driveway. Polymeric sand loses its binder over time, especially with the intense San Fernando Valley sun. Once joints erode, pavers start to shift and chip against each other.
  • A dipped area near the garage apron or the driveway’s lowest point. This is the classic sign of insufficient base compaction from the original install. We see it most often on older Woodland Hills homes in Woodland Hills Estates and Carlton Terrace where original driveways predate modern compaction standards.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full Boral driveway replacement in Woodland Hills, expect $7,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage, access, the condition of the existing base, and whether we’re reusing any of the original pavers. A targeted repair, like replacing a section of sunken pavers and re-compacting the base, typically falls between $800 and $3,500. The range isn’t a mystery: it comes down to how much of the base we have to dig out and rebuild, and whether we can match existing pavers or need to replace the entire surface.

Every quote from Mason Remodeling Co Woodland Hills is written, line-itemed, and delivered before work starts. You’ll see the paver cost, base material, haul-away, and labor broken out clearly. No surprises on the final bill, no change orders added mid-job. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something is not right within a year of completion, we make it right at no cost to you. Isaac Pruett, our owner, has been pricing jobs straight since we opened in 2004 as part of the Threshold Group family of home-service companies, and that hasn’t changed.

DIY or Call Us?

There are a couple of things you can safely check on a Boral driveway before calling. Walk the surface after rain and mark any low spots with sidewalk chalk. Look at the edge restraints where the driveway meets the lawn or planting beds. If you see sand washing out of the joints, note where it’s happening. None of that requires touching anything.

What you should not do is start pulling pavers to “see what’s underneath.” Boral pavers interlock, and the base beneath them is graded and compacted to shed water. Pulling a paver and putting it back without re-bedding it changes the surface plane and usually makes the problem worse. Re-setting a full paver section also requires a plate compactor and proper bedding sand depth, which is not a weekend project. If the issue is a sunken section, a cracked edge course, or anything that goes below the paver surface, call us at (831) 290-6866. We’ll come out, look at it, and tell you what it actually needs, even if the honest answer is “leave it alone.”
