CGI Kitchen Remodeling: The Woodland Hills Owner’s Guide
If you own a CGI kitchen and a cabinet door, drawer glide, hinge, or panel has failed, the fix usually runs between $4,000 and $13,000 installed here in Woodland Hills, with most repairs landing under $2,500 when it’s a single component swap. We keep common CGI-compatible hardware on the truck for same-week service, and we’ll match your existing finish and door profile before we order anything. Most homeowners discover the problem the same way: a drawer that suddenly sticks, a hinge that sags, or a soft-close mechanism that stopped soft-closing about six months ago and is now grinding.
This page covers what fails on CGI kitchens, what it costs to make it right in Woodland Hills, and how to tell whether you need a repair or a full replacement. We’re an independent remodeling company, not affiliated with CGI, but we’ve worked on enough of their kitchens across the Valley to know what holds up and what doesn’t.
Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI kitchens are built around modular cabinet boxes with a few recurring hardware lines. The brand uses full-overlay doors on most of its mid-range and upper lines, which means the door covers nearly the entire cabinet face. That’s good for looks, but it puts more stress on the hinge cups than a partial-overlay door ever sees. The soft-close mechanisms are almost always a Blum or Grass-style clip-top hinge with an integrated damper, and those dampers are the first thing to fail on a ten-year-old CGI kitchen.
Before you order anything, open the cabinet door and look at the hinge cup. You’ll find a brand stamp and usually a model number etched into the metal. Write that down and measure the cup diameter: 35mm is the industry standard, but some CGI import lines use a 26mm cup, and no, the two are not interchangeable no matter how persuasive the hardware store clerk is. For drawer glides, measure the drawer box side clearance. Undermount glides need exactly 1/2 inch of clearance per side. If you have 3/8 inch, you have side-mount glides, and the replacement has to match.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question, here’s the honest answer: for hinges and drawer glides, a quality aftermarket part from Blum, Grass, or Salice will outlast the original in most cases, and it’ll cost 20-30% less than the CGI-branded replacement. For door fronts and decorative panels, stick with OEM if you can. The finish matching on aftermarket doors is where we see the most regret, especially on glazed or thermofoil CGI lines. We’ll tell you which side of that line your part falls on before you spend a dollar.

Signs Your CGI Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- The soft-close stopped soft-closing. The damper inside the hinge cup has lost its hydraulic fluid. It’s a sealed unit, so there’s no refilling it. The hinge still works, but every close is a slam until the damper fully seizes. This is the most common CGI repair we do in Woodland Hills.
- A drawer sits crooked or rubs the face frame. One glide has jumped a ball bearing or bent slightly. The drawer still opens, but the friction is chewing through the glide’s coating. Left alone, it will eventually gouge the drawer box itself, and then you’re paying for a new box, not just new glides.
- The hinge side of a door is dropping. The screws in the hinge plate have stripped out of the cabinet side. This is especially common on CGI’s MDF-core boxes, which don’t hold screws as well as plywood. We fix it with a threaded insert, not a longer screw. Longer screws split the panel.
- The cabinet door won’t stay aligned no matter how you adjust it. The hinge itself is worn past its adjustment range. On CGI’s full-overlay doors, you have maybe 2-3mm of three-way adjustment before the hinge is exhausted. When you’re chasing alignment weekly, the hinge is done.
- The finish is peeling at the edges of a door or drawer front. On thermofoil CGI lines, this starts as a hairline separation along the bottom edge. Moisture from the sink area or dishwasher steam gets under it, and the peeling accelerates. It’s cosmetic until it isn’t: once the substrate gets soft, the door stops being structurally sound.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what you should expect to pay for CGI kitchen work in Woodland Hills, installed:
- Single hinge or damper replacement: $40 – $90 per hinge, including the part and the service call if we’re already on site for a larger job.
- Full drawer glide replacement (one drawer): $120 – $220, depending on whether it’s side-mount or undermount.
- Cabinet door replacement (single door, OEM finish-matched): $180 – $400 installed.
- Full kitchen hardware refresh (all hinges and glides, 20+ drawer/door kitchen): $2,500 – $4,500.
- Full cabinet replacement (CGI-style modular install, mid-range Woodland Hills kitchen): $14,000 – $45,000, which tracks with what we see across the market here.
The spread comes down to how many boxes we’re replacing, whether we’re matching an existing finish or refinishing everything, and whether the countertops have to come off to reach the base cabinets. We write you a fixed price before work starts, and that price includes labor, parts, haul-away, and a written workmanship warranty that runs 365 days from completion. If the repair fails inside that window, we’re back at no charge. No dispute process, no conditions.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things on your own: read the brand stamp off the hinge cup, measure the cup diameter, and count how many hinges and glides are actually failing. That information saves us a trip and saves you a diagnostic fee. What you shouldn’t do is start drilling into cabinet boxes to re-seat stripped screws, especially on MDF-core cabinets. A misaligned drill bit will blow out the back of the panel, and now a $90 hinge fix is a $300 box repair. Same caution applies to thermofoil door replacement: the heat-lamination process used in finish-matching is not a weekend project, and a botched glue job will peel within a season in Woodland Hills’ dry heat.
If the failure is limited to one or two hinges or a single drawer glide, and you’ve done this before, most owners can handle it with the right part number in hand. If it’s a full-overlay CGI door with an integrated damper and you’re not sure, call us at (831) 290-6866. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s worth a service call. No charge for the conversation.
FAQs

In Woodland Hills’ climate, CGI cabinet boxes typically last 15 – 20 years before the MDF cores start degrading, but the hardware on them usually needs attention by the 10-year mark. The dry heat here is hard on plastic damper seals, which is why we see soft-close failures earlier than coastal installs. Hinges and glides are wear items; the boxes are usually the last thing to go.
No, and this is a corner we won’t cut for you. The integrated dampers in CGI-style soft-close hinges are sealed units, and the ball bearings in a damaged glide can’t be re-seated reliably. We replace the part with new hardware. It costs less than a repair attempt that fails in three months, and it’s the only way our 365-day warranty makes sense. Call (831) 290-6866 and we’ll give you the exact part cost for your model.
For a single hinge or drawer glide, the swap takes 20 – 40 minutes once we’re on site. A full kitchen hardware refresh across 20 or more drawers and doors is usually a one-day job. The variable is finish-matching replacement doors, which can add 2 – 4 weeks for ordering if you need OEM panels from CGI.
We keep the most common Blum and Grass-style soft-close hinges, 35mm and 26mm cups, and undermount drawer glides on the truck in standard finishes. If your CGI kitchen uses a less common hardware line or you need finish-matched door fronts, we order those specific parts and schedule the install when they arrive. We’ll tell you before the first visit which bucket your repair falls into.
